Groupov

Groupov is a collective of artists from different disciplines (theatre, video, writing, music, etc.) and different nationalities (French, Belgians (Walloons and Flemish), Italian, American…). Founded in 1980 by Jacques Delcuvellerie which remained its artistic director, is based in Liege, Belgium. From its origins Groupov jointly conducted purely experimental projects and original drama creations. During the 90s, he directed his research on “the question of truth.” At the end of this course, particularly after the establishment of TRASH (a lonely prayer) Marie-France Collard and staging of Bertolt Brecht’s LA MERE, Groupov undertook the project RWANDA 94 which, after the Avignon Festival 1999 continued touring internationally for nearly five years. At the same time, it is defined as Experimental Centre of Culture Active to make it clear that its business will not only enrolled in the theatrical field, even if it remains the most visible. Thus Groupov continues particular part of the research initiated by Grotowski when he left the stage with Les Clairières, a working structure in nature and especially in the forest, constantly changing. After RWANDA 94 and ANATHEME Groupov embarked on a new adventure, with long gestation: UN UOMO DI MENO (Fare Thee Well Tovaritch Homo Sapiens). River show seven hours written and directed by Jacques Delcuvellerie – after a long period of collaborative research, UUDM is acclaimed by the public and critique. More recently, at the initiative of Raven Ruëll, Groupov began construction a project on Palestine. The creation of L’IMPOSSIBLE NEUTRELITE took place in the context of programming Factory at the last Festival de Liège 2015. Meanwhile, Groupov committed to supporting various projects by young artists, who generally come from the School of Actors of Liège (ESACT). Groupov participates extensively today as one of the initiators and basic members, at incubator project: La Chaufferie-Acte 1 – which also includes Théâtre & Publics, ESACT the Lentic HEC / ULg, GRE, Arsenic 2 and SPI, in the common desire to link economic restructuring, artistic creativity, life and cultural influence.
