INVESTIGATING THE STORY OF THE SARAJEVO “SNIPER SAFARI”

Just hours after BIRN published the results of its years-long investigation into the long-standing claims known as the Sarajevo “Sniper Safari”, Tommaso Siviero and Azem Kurtić presented their findings at WARM Festival 2026. The presentation drew considerable attention, as it was the first public discussion of the investigation on the day it was released.

Looking beyond rumours and public memory, they examined what could be established through evidence, what remains unresolved, and the responsibility journalists carry when reporting on stories connected to the siege of Sarajevo.

We were especially pleased to welcome Tommaso Siviero back to WARM. Tommaso is a WARM alumnus, having taken part in one of our educational initiatives last year, developed in collaboration with our partners. Seeing him return to present such an important investigation was a proud moment for all of us.
