WARM presents ‘Free and Emergency Cinema in Syria’, a selection of films by Abounaddara.
Created in 2010, Abounaddara is a group of young Syrian film-directors that show us another image of Syrian society. Since the beginning of the conflict, in April 2011, the group has been producing a short format documentary every week that is broadcasted on the internet. Each one of the films differs from the media coverage of the war that is destroying Syria. They show ordinary men and women, no heroes, no victims, political opponents and loyalists, Sunnites and Alawites. Abounaddara seeks to share through cinema a desire to obtain freedom, justice and truth. The selection is made of about 20 films produced between 2011 and 2013 and will be followed by a discussion.
WARM présente une sélection de films du collectif Abounaddara
Fondé en 2010, Abounaddara est un collectif de jeunes cinéastes syriens qui donnent à voir une autre image de la société syrienne. Depuis le début du conflit en Syrie, en avril 2011, le collectif produit et réalise chaque semaine un film documentaire de format court qui est diffusé sur la toile. Chacun de ces films constitue un contrechamp à la couverture médiatique de la guerre qui dévaste la Syrie. Ils dévoilent des hommes et des femmes ordinaires, ni héros, ni victimes, des opposants politiques ou des loyalistes, sunnites ou alaouites. Abounaddara cherche à partager à travers le cinéma un désir de liberté, de justice et de vérité. Une vingtaine de films, produits entre 2011 et 2013, seront projetés. La projection sera suivie d’une discussion avec Charif Kiwan, porte-parole du collectif (sous réserve).
