Gaza, Unframed

Gaza, Unframed
Venue: Kino Meeting Point, 6:00PM

Gaza, Unframed is a mirror redefined – an evening of art, performance, and conversation that invites us to see ourselves in the lives of those enduring unimaginable violence.

The event opens with a multimedia installation by Faruk Šabanović, introducing the work of Palestinian photojournalist Ali Jadallah, currently reporting from the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Using surveillance and detection technology, the installation draws visual parallels between the observer and those captured in Jadallah’s photographs – aligning hands, faces, and bodies to dissolve the illusion of distance. As Laura Boushnak presents Jadallah’s photography, Šabanović will perform a choreographed reflection – a physical response that moves beyond screens and sensors, confronting the ways technology conceals our emotional and corporeal interconnectedness.

The evening continues with a presentation by Gabriela Seith on the Gaza Biennale, a global art initiative launched from within Gaza in April 2024.

A panel discussion featuring Francesca Albanese, Gabriela Seith, and several Palestinian authors and artists will follow, exploring creative resistance, representation, and the role of art in confronting violence.

At the end of the evening, the audience will be invited to interact with the installation – to explore its mechanisms and perhaps experience, across the artificial divide, a quiet moment of recognition, resilience, and human connection.
