REPORTING FROM THE FUTURE: WARM AT KYIV’S MYSTETSKYI ARSENAL
On 2 June 2024, WARM Foundation participated in the public event Reporting from the Future: a Conversation between Ukrainian and Bosnian Authors at Kyiv’s Mystetskyi Arsenal. The discussion featured WARM member Damir Šagolj alongside Faruk Šehić, Kateryna Kalytko and Daria Kuzmych, and was moderated by Dzvinka Pinchuk. Building on the research visit of Ukrainian participants to Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier that spring, the conversation explored the parallels between the wars in the former Yugoslavia and the ongoing war in Ukraine, reflecting on the long-term social and human consequences of prolonged conflict.
The Kyiv event formed part of the broader Bosnia–Ukraine: Reporting from the Future project, developed in Kyiv and Sarajevo throughout 2024. The initiative connects writers, photographers, filmmakers and journalists from Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina to examine memory, trauma, justice and post-war reconstruction, and to explore how the experience of one conflict can illuminate another.
WARM’s activities in Ukraine were supported by UNESCO through the “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans” (CC4WBs) project, funded by the European Union. The programme seeks to strengthen dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors and increasing their socio-economic impact, reinforcing WARM’s sustained engagement between Ukraine and the region.
