After its world premiere at the WARM Festival 2025 in Sarajevo, Fabio Bucciarelli’s powerful exhibition Occupied Territories has now arrived in Italy. The show opened on September 24 at the prestigious DIG Festival in Modena, in the historic Sala Cardinali of Collegio San Carlo.
Curated by Lejla Hodžić and produced by the WARM Foundation in collaboration with Gallery 11/07/95, Occupied Territories brings together Bucciarelli’s photographs from Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Lebanon offering a searing visual testimony of life under occupation and the ongoing violence. Presented for the first time in Sarajevo this July, the exhibition drew large audiences and sparked important conversations at WARM Festival 2025.
The Modena opening was made possible thanks to the close cooperation between DIG Festival and WARM, despite the political difficulties that often surround exhibitions dealing with the Israeli occupation and genocide in Palestine. Fabio Bucciarelli expressed his gratitude to the DIG team, and in particular to director Alberto Nerazzini, for their commitment and courage in hosting the show.
The project is also supported by Bucciarelli’s publisher, Dario Cimorelli Editore, who gave the photographer complete freedom in the production of his accompanying book – an increasingly rare gesture in today’s publishing world.
With Occupied Territories, WARM continues its mission of presenting urgent, conflict-related work with integrity and excellence, ensuring that these essential stories reach audiences across borders.
