Fabienne Hara serves as the vice president (Multilateral Affairs) of International Crisis Group since 2008, overseeing Crisis Group’s advocacy at the United Nations and the Security Council in New York, and directing the Crisis Group New York office. Ms. Hara has over eighteen years of experience in African conflict management and resolution issues. Most recently, she served as Acting /Deputy Chief of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (2006- 2007). She was previously a Senior Political Officer in Department of Political Affairs at the UN and a Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, Harvard Kennedy School of Government (2005). Between 1998 and 2003, she was the Co-Director of the Africa Program at Crisis Group. Ms. Hara also served as the Great Lakes Project Coordinator at the Center for Preventive Action of the Council on Foreign Relations (1996-1997) and as a team leader for Doctors of the World in Burundi (1995). Fabienne Hara holds a Postgraduate degree in International Relations and MA in Political Science and International Relations, both from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (1991-1994).
