Julie Schneider

Humanitarian consultant

Julie Schneider combines a background in journalism and humanitarian action with over fifteen years of experience in conflict and crisis contexts. As a journalist, she reported from the Middle East and North Africa — including Lebanon, Israel-Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, Libya, Syria and Iraq — contributing to outlets such as Le Point, Le Figaro, International Justice Tribune, Le Courrier de Genève, La Libre Belgique and La Provence.

She later joined the International Committee of the Red Cross, where for eight years she worked in Afghanistan, Iraq, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ukraine. Her work focused on documenting violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, developing protection strategies, and implementing humanitarian diplomacy with state and non-state actors.

Julie has authored and co-authored reports on humanitarian access, the conduct of hostilities and the protection of civilians, and has carried out legal and policy advocacy with organisations including Handicap International. She holds advanced training in international humanitarian law, human rights law, refugee law and international criminal law, with certifications from the Fondation René Cassin, the University of Oxford Refugee Studies Centre, the Hague Academy and the Geneva Academy.
