Liam Maloney


Liam Maloney is a Canadian documentary photographer and videographer. His clients include The Guardian, Foreign Policy, Mother Jones, Global, Maclean’s, National Post, CBC, and Vice. Maloney was a participant in the Eddie Adams Barnstorm workshop, was a finalist for the Hot Docs Lindalee Tracey Award and has been nominated for a National Magazine Award. He won a Gold Medal at the 2011 COPA. Forsaken: Syrian Refugees in Lebanon was nominated for Picture Story of the Year at the 2014 NPAC POY. He was recently named a finalist for the 2014 Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize. His immersive installation Texting Syria was exhibited at the 2014 Festival Images in Vevey, Switzerland as well as the 2014 Scotiabank Nuit Blanche festival in Toronto, Canada, and will be presented at the Mois de la Photo bienniale in Montreal in September 2015. Maloney is RISC-certified in Battlefield Medical Response, properly equipped for work in hostile environments and is a member of the Frontline Freelance Network. A central theme emerging in his work is the idea of home and what it means to those who have been displaced.
