Srđan Vuletić was born 01.01.1971. He studied at Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, where he directed four plays as well as began making short student films. With the beginning of the war in Bosnia he joined a hospital crew as a medical technician, an experience that was later to inspire the acclaimed documentary I burnt legs (1993, winner of the Felix Award in 1994 as a part of a set of movies from besieged Sarajevo). As a member of SaGA ( Sarajevo Group of Authors), he directed several documentaries. For Obala Art Center he directed the documentary Witnesses of Existence, which represented the Bosnian artists at the Mostra, La Biennale di Venezia. The short films he directed or scripted (Hop, Skip & Jump; Trip to the Moon; 10 Minutes) played on festivals worldwide winning prestigious awards. His first feature film, Summer in the Golden Valley, made its world premiere at the Toronto film festival, and won numerous awards such as VPRO Tiger Award and Moviezone Award at Rotterdam Film Festival. In 2005 he was named Filmmaker of the year by Filmworkers Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina. His second feature It’s Hard To Be Nice, opened 13th Sarajevo Film Festival. In 2009 he became a member of European Film Academy. He is currently a professor of screenwriting and the head of director’s department at the Academy of Performing Arts of Sarajevo.
