Notes taken for the interview with Morn Vanney, 38 years old. She is a teacher in history in Anlong Veng. Anlong Veng was the last bastion of the communists, where Ta Mok (“the Butcher”) used to live and where Pol Pot was eventually trialed by his pairs in July 1997. According to Morn Vanney, many children ques- tion the veracity of the killings by the Khmer Rouges regime. Five of her relatives died during the war.

Memories, what is left of the Khmer Rouge?
