Premiere Report: “Bosnia: Ukraine – Reporting from the Future”

On Thursday, October 10, the documentary Bosnia: Ukraine – Reporting from the Future,” a WARM Foundation production, premiered at the Bayeux Festival. The film, alongside an exhibition and catalog about the same project, captures the experiences of Ukrainian authors—visual artists, filmmakers, writers, and journalists—who visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in April 2024 to reflect on the potential futures of their war-torn society.

During their week in Bosnia, each Ukrainian participant was paired with a Bosnian host. Through personal encounters and lectures by prominent writers, journalists, and curators, they gained insight into the long-term effects of war. The film, created in collaboration with Eldar Emrić ASBIH and Raul Gallego Abellan, presents a powerful collection of reflections and artistic expressions from their time in Bosnia.

After the screening, a discussion featured Ukrainian author Dzvinka Pinchuk alongside WARM members Jon Lee Anderson, Rémy Ourdan, and Damir Šagolj as speakers. Catalogues from the accompanying exhibition were also distributed, offering additional context for the audience.

Supported by the ERSTE Foundation, this project marks another collaboration between WARM and the Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for war correspondents. The event underscored the importance of cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration between communities affected by conflict, fostering a continued conversation on war, survival, and the future.
