IRAN 2026: A Chronicle Opens at WARM Festival

IRAN 2026: A Chronicle, one of WARM Festival 2026’s own productions, opened at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together a large audience for one of the festival’s most ambitious exhibitions.

Developed within the WARM network in just a few months, the exhibition presents an ongoing and complex story through multiple voices and forms. At its heart is the work of Iranian photojournalists Aslon Arfa, Fatemeh Behboudi, Morteza Nikoubazl, Mohsen Rezaei and Akbar Tavakkoli, whose photographs form a collective visual chronicle from inside Iran. They are accompanied by personal texts by Iranian authors, brought together through Bojan Hadžihalilović’s exhibition design.

Several of the photographers attended the opening, while curators Damir Šagolj and Thomas Dworzak, together with editor Alice Gabriner, introduced the project and spoke about the process of creating the exhibition.

A special place is given to Shahr-e Farang, a traditional Iranian peep-show box reimagined with images from Thomas Dworzak’s collection, selected and edited by Alice Gabriner. Combining documentary photography with material gathered from social media and the wider online world, it adds another perspective to this chronicle of Iran in 2026.
